Pushpaka Vimanam's hilarious trailer and Vijay Deverakonda's special promotions for the film have created quite a hype among the audience. Now, with his third film, Anand Deverakonda is coming to woo us all with the comedy caper -Pushpaka Vimanam. In fact, Anand Deverakonda can be termed as the Gen Z actor who is inspiring his co-stars in selecting versatile roles which are also entertaining. The same story without a heroine track in the current form that would hold much stronger emotional appeal in the end.Youth sensation Vijay Deverakonda's brother Anand Deverakonda who has acted in two films -Dorasani and Middle-Class Melodies has shown a penchant for acting in off-beat films, unlike his brother. Editing is patchy, and the unfinished works are visible in Telugu dubbing. Ghibran shows his worth as a composer through the background score. Lastly, Jackie Shroff is perfect for his part in a small character.
Bagavati Perumal has done a neat job in the supporting role as police. Lavanya Tripathi has a different role than usual, but she offers nothing new regarding the performance. Overall, if one doesn’t mind the genre and little boredom, they can give it a try. The climax will remind Telugu audience of a critically acclaimed romantic drama. The thrills which are present in the second half are predictable for the genre. The problem is too much explaining of the science and less thrilling elements. The entire love track seems to be a forceful insertion into the story to get to the ending. Right from the start of concentration on Rudra (Danial Balaji) till the revelation of the main plot in the second half, Project Z is engaging. What we have is a film, that is far from a disaster but an average fare as a science-fiction thriller. On a positive side, it could have turned out to be a disastrous watch like a Sri Valli, but luckily that is also not the case.
The director handles overall plot well, but it isn’t as engaging or thrilling as it could have been. It becomes a cat and mouse chase game between the police and criminal after we know the core plot. Once we are in sync, it is a reasonably predictable watch. It isn’t until we reach the pre-interval portion that things start to make some sense. The movie takes time to get going initially. Keeping those things in mind, it can be said he has done a decent job. It is a difficult subject to execute and also a genre that doesn’t enjoy broad appeal. The actor’s voice is dubbed in Telugu, and that takes away a lot from overall engagement with the film.ĬV Kumar, a producer previously debuts as director with Project Z. There is nothing over the top in his act which at times gives an impression that he is just another character and not lead. It is a mellowed down version of his usual self.
